Two more signings for Nott’m Forest as £20m Emmanuel Dennis joins alongside AFCON winner

Watford star Emmanuel Dennis

Nottingham Forest have added two more players to their squad by landing Emmanuel Dennis from Watford and former Crystal Palace man Cheikhou Kouyate on a free transfer.

The Reds had already signed a plethora of players this summer, including Jesse Lingard, Neco Williams, Dean Henderson and Taiwo Awoniyi. They have continued the spending spree by bringing in Dennis from Championship side Watford.

According to BBC Sport, Nottingham Forest have spent £20million on the centre-forward, who hit 10 Premier League goals last season.

Depending on add-ons, this could make Dennis the club’s record signing. They have already broken that record this summer by parting with £17.2m (€20m) for Taiwo Awoniyi.

Dennis, 24, has agreed a four-year contract at the City Ground. He will compete with the likes of Awoniyi, Sam Surridge and Brennan Johnson for a place in attack.

The Nigerian is versatile and can also operate out wide on either wing if Steve Cooper decides to go with a different player down the middle.

He made two appearances for Watford at the start of the Championship campaign. Dennis, like former Hornets team-mate Ismaila Sarr, appears too good for that level though and has now come back to the top flight.

While Dennis becomes Forest’s 13th summer arrival, Kouyate is their 14th. The central midfielder, who can also play in defence, has penned a two-year deal with Forest.

Kouyate follows Emmanuel Dennis to Forest

He joins on a free after leaving Palace earlier this summer. Palace had let the 32-year-old’s contract expire, despite him playing in 31 matches last term.

Kouyate brings with him a wealth of experience, both in the Prem and on the international stage. He has made 258 appearances in the Prem and is also an AFCON winner with Senegal.

Dennis and Kouyate might not be the last of Forest’s captures, either. They are also on the verge of signing Remo Freuler from Atalanta.

As per Fabrizio Romano, he is set to pen a three-year contract with Steve Cooper’s side. The Switzerland midfielder will cost Forest an initial £7.6m.

Meanwhile, Lingard has hit back at Jamie Carragher for claiming his move to Forest was only about the money.
