Nottingham Forest on Benrahma trail after ruthless West Ham snub; talks with ex-Crystal Palace star ‘advanced’

West Ham winger Said Benrahma

Nottingham Forest are eyeing another statement signing in the form of West Ham’s snubbed winger Said Benrahma, while a second deal is at an ‘advanced stage’ per reports.

Steve Cooper’s side have attacked the transfer window with full force this summer. The Premier League new boys have already signed 11 new first-team stars including eye-catching moves for Jesse Lingard, Taiwo Awoniyi and a loan for Dean Henderson.

However, all the signs point to Forest’s business being far from over.

Indeed, they had a deal agreed and a medical lined up for Real Betis’ Alex Moreno. A U-turn has since see that deal collapse, though Forest won’t stay down for long.

The Guardian recently reported Forest are an early contender for the signature of West Ham winger, Said Benrahma.

The Algerian, 26, performed admirably in the league last term, notching eight goals and six assists.

However, after being a mainstay in the starting eleven early on, David Moyes relegated Benrahma to the bench for much of the second half of the season.

Benrahma leaves Moyes wanting more

The Mirror reported in July that Moyes was seeking greater consistency from his attacking players. As a maverick player, consistency is not a word that can ever be associated with Benrahma – even if he did produce the goods early on last term.

West Ham have since signed Maxwel Cornet from Burnley for the wings. The Guardian now double down on prior reporting and state West Ham will listen to offers for Benrahma.

While a move to Nottingham Forest is clearly in its infancy, the report does confirm Cooper’s men are showing an interest.

Nikola Vlasic could also be axed from Moyes’ frontline. Serie A side Tornio are eyeing a loan deal, though will struggle to take on his wages.

Chiekhou Kouyate talks ‘advanced’

A move that is more advanced involves recent Crystal Palace midfielder, Cheikhou Kouyate.

The 32-year-old left Selhurst Park as a free agent this summer after four years at the club. According to Football Insider, Forest are in ‘advanced’ talks to bring him on board.

Forest are seeking experience in the middle of the park after being blown away by Newcastle upon their return to the top flight.

A veteran of more than 250 Premier League appearances, Kouyate would be an ideal addition to settle the nerves around him.
