Nottingham Forest’s desire to snap up a PSV midfielder could be completely derailed by German giants Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Steve Cooper is still looking to bring in quality additions to his squad before the summer transfer window shuts, with four signings made by the club so far.

It was reported by Eindhovens Dagblad towards the end of July that Forest were in regular contact with representatives of PSV star Ibrahim Sangare, with a €35million transfer being discussed.

The player is currently valued at €37.5m, with ED as relayed by Voetbal Primeur, claiming that Forest’s interest remains ‘concrete’ some weeks on from that initial report.

However, Cooper’s men are not the only ones after Sangare, with Fussball Transfers suggesting that Bayern also want the Ivory Coast international.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is said to have requested a new No.6 for his engine room and Sangare has now been added to the Bundesliga champions’ wish list.

The report adds that the PSV star is the new ‘hot candidate’ for Bayern and he would be open to making a switch to Germany. Indeed, there is the possibility that the parties could start concrete talks soon.

Bayern’s sudden interest is sure to spark Cooper and Forest into action though, given they have been tracking the player for some time.

Forest open up the new Premier League campaign with a tough trip to Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime.
