QPR forward signing close with Premier League man having medical ahead of Loftus Road loan

Jamal Lowe of Bournemouth

Championship side Queens Park Rangers are close to signing Jamal Lowe from Bournemouth, as TEAMtalk understands the winger is currently undergoing a medical at Loftus Road.

Lowe has been at Bournemouth since August 2021, when the Cherries paid Swansea £1.5million to sign him on a two-year contract. The wide man, who usually plays on the right flank, made 42 appearances during his debut campaign at the Vitality Stadium.

He chipped in with seven goals and two assists in the league to help Bournemouth gain promotion back to the top flight, as they finished second in the Championship behind Fulham.

Despite playing a big role in helping Bournemouth return to the Premier League, Lowe has had to play a peripheral role this term. He has only managed four outings in all competitions, with one goal coming his way in that time.

Cherries boss Gary O’Neil tends to use Scotland ace Ryan Christie on the right wing, leaving no room for Lowe in the starting eleven.

As such, both Lowe and Bournemouth want to find a solution during the January transfer window. And on Sunday, TEAMtalk revealed he would be allowed to leave Bournemouth on loan this month if the right proposal came in.

And the London-born Jamaica international soon picked up lots of interest. QPR and Norwich were named as the leading suitors for him, but plenty of other teams want to complete a deal too. These include League One outfit Ipswich, though it would take some convincing for them to sign Lowe.

Now, TEAMtalk has been told the 28-year-old is on the verge of joining QPR on loan until the end of the campaign. He is currently having a medical at Loftus Road before joining Neil Critchley’s side.

And should Lowe pass the necessary medical tests, then he will become QPR’s first new arrival of the January window. He will help the Hoops as they attempt to move up the Championship table and towards the play-off-places. They currently sit in 12th spot on 36 points.
