Sheffield United have reportedly made an enquiry about the signing of Tyler Roberts from Leeds, although he is now close to joining another Championship club.
Roberts made 26 appearances for Leeds last season, registering one goal and one assist. He doesn’t appear to have a future at Elland Road amid competition from the likes of Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Joe Gelhardt in attack, plus others.
As such, Jesse Marsch’s team will allow the forward to leave on loan this summer. And his availability is attracting several Championship clubs.
The Wales international could compete with Iliman Ndiaye for a place just behind the strikers next term. Roberts could also be used up top, if some of Paul Heckingbottom’s strikers get injured.
The Blades are not alone in admiring Roberts, though. Witcoop states QPR and Hull also hold interest in signing him on loan.
The Daily Mail come in with an update. They claim Roberts is having a medical ahead of a QPR move, meaning Sheffield United’s approach has fallen through.
Roberts will join QPR on loan before potentially signing in a permanent deal worth £4.5m next summer.
Sheffield United will now turn their attention to their other prospective captures. They are on the verge of announcing Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodžić, who is set to join from Malmo.
The Championship side are also in negotiations with free agent Tom Lawrence, following the expiry of his Derby contract.
Leeds, meanwhile, will soon announce the signings of Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams, as per Fabrizio Romano.
That comes after Leeds agreed a deal with Feyenoord for Sinisterra – he is set to become the Dutch club’s record sale.
