Sources: Southampton find Che Adams replacement, with enquiry made over Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland celebrates scoring against Rosenberg
Southampton have enquired about the signing of in-form Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, TEAMtalk understands.
Southampton look set to lose current centre-forward Che Adams, as he is closing in on an Everton move. On Saturday, the Saints rejected an opening £12million offer from Everton for Adams, but the move is now in the ‘final stages’ after the Toffees increased their proposal to £15m.
Southampton manager Russell Martin has already revealed that it is imperative the club lands a new striker due to the influence Adams has on his team. And club chiefs have now identified his replacement.
Southampton have contacted Hearts to find out whether they are open to selling Shankland this summer, sources have told TEAMtalk.
Southampton have made their move for the 28-year-old amid interest from a host of other teams. Shankland has been linked with a surprise move to Saudi Arabia, which would see him pick up a very lucrative contract.
When asked recently to comment on a switch to the Saudi Pro League, though, Shankland insisted he ‘takes no interest’ in it.
Earlier this month, TEAMtalk also revealed that new Maccabi Tel Aviv boss Robbie Keane is eager to take the prolific goalscorer to Israel.
Shankland was in great form last term, netting 28 goals in 47 matches cross all competitions. And he has continued that form during the new season, having found the back of the net four times in his first five appearances.
