Sources: Southampton ready move for explosive Aberdeen striker who is ‘open’ to replacing 102-goal star

Southampton are looking at a deal to bring Aberdeen striker Duk to England this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

Saints are set to lose a number of players this summer following their relegation from the Premier League. And one of the players who is expected to leave is 102-goal striker Che Adams.

The 26-year-old has just a year left on his deal at St Mary’s and is keen to secure a move back into the Premier League. Whether he achieves that or not remains to be seen, though a parting of ways appears likely all the same. Everton and Leeds are among those keen.

And with the Saints board considering replacements, we understand one of those they are strongly considering is Duk.

The Cape Verde international, whose actual name is Luis Lopes, joined Aberdeen last summer from Benfica. And he has enjoyed a spectacular debut season in Scotland, scoring 18 goals in 40 appearances.

Duk’s deal was masterminded by Aberdeen’s head of recruitment Darren Mowbray – who himself is joining Southampton this summer. Now we can reveal a reunion at St Mary’s is starting to gather momentum.

There is also Premier League interest in Duk, but we understand the 23-year-old Lisbon-born star is open to a move to the south coast.

They reportedly believe his form and goals can translate to England’s second tier and help fire Saints back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
