Sources: Crystal Palace, Brentford and Burnley gifted golden chance to sign Sunderland ace after contract talks stall

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke

Crystal Palace, Brentford and Burnley are on alert after talks over a new contract for Jack Clarke at Sunderland stalled, TEAMtalk understands.

Clarke, 22, is a target for a number of Premier League clubs following his impressive form for Sunderland last season.

The skilful attacker had over 20 goal contributions for Sunderland last season with 11 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.

Clarke still has three years to run on his current deal at the Stadium of Light, but the club were keen to offer the wide-man a new contract to reflect his growing importance to Tony Mowbray’s side.

TEAMtalk understands that those contract talks have now stalled and the news is sure to alert Clarke’s Premier League suitors.

Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brentford have all been credited with an interest in Clarke and they could be ready to test Sunderland’s resolve to hang onto the player in this summer’s transfer window.

Former Leeds Utd star Clarke initially joined Sunderland on loan in January 2022 and made 20 appearances on the way to helping the Mackems secure promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

Sunderland turned his loan move from Tottenham into a permanent deal last summer and the lively attacker has continued to flourish under Black Cats boss Mowbray.
