Sources: Sunderland end Burnley hopes of signing Jack Clarke after rejecting £10m-plus offer

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke wanted by Burnley

Sunderland have told Burnley that Jack Clarke is not for sale this summer after rejecting several offers for the winger, TEAMtalk understands.

Burnley have made former Tottenham and Leeds attacker Clarke one of their top targets this summer as they prepare his side for life back in the Premier League. Vincent Kompany’s side have seen several bids rejected by Sunderland, including the most recent offer worth over £10m.

Clarke is understood to be keen on a move away as he seeks to play at the highest level possible and establish himself in the top flight.

However, Sunderland have informed the player – as well as Burnley – that Clarke is not for sale and that he will be staying at the Stadium of Light beyond the close of the summer window.

Clarke has been a target for a number of Premier League clubs following his impressive form for Sunderland last season.

The skilful attacker notched over 20 goal contributions for Sunderland last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions.

Former Leeds star Clarke initially joined Sunderland on loan in January 2022 and made 20 appearances on the way to helping Sunderland secure promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

Sunderland turned his loan move from Tottenham into a permanent deal last summer. Since then, the rapidly improving attacker has continued to flourish under Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray.

Sunderland are determined to keep hold of Clarke as they look to mount another bid for promotion to the Premier League this season.

Mowbray’s men fell in the Championship play-off semi-finals to Luton last season and the hope is Clarke can help them go one better next term.
