The midfielder started his youth career in Brazil, where he grew up, before moving to Spain and joining the Barcelona academy at the age of 14.
He came through the ranks at Barcelona, playing for their B team in the Segunda Liga for three seasons, before moving up to the senior team.
Whilst with the senior team, he won four La Liga titles and a Champions League in the four seasons he was there. In 2013, Thiago moved to Bayern Munich, and won the Bundesliga in each of his seven seasons with the club.
After winning the Champions League again with Bayern, Thiago joined Liverpool in 2020.
