Agreement struck, as Tottenham transfer thunders towards completion after Postecoglou gets his way

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Spartak Moscow over the transfer of a player unfancied by Ange Postecoglou, and personal terms are expected to be ironed out in the “next few hours”, per multiple sources.

Revamping a sub-par defence was among the priorities for Postecoglou once taking charge at Tottenham. Spurs shipped an eye-watering 63 goals in the Premier League alone last season. Only five teams conceded more, three of which were relegated.

Spurs have signed Pedro Porro to a permanent deal, while Destiny Udogie is being intregrated into the side following a fruitful loan spell back at Udinese.

One and potentially two new centre-halves are also on the agenda. Micky van de Ven (Wolfsburg) and Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen) are the players drawing the strongest links.

To make room, player exits are inevitable and various sources have listed Davinson Sanchez as being on the chopping block.

Now, according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra as well as Fabrizio Romano, Postecoglou and Spurs have found a buyer for Sanchez.

Russian outfit Spartak Moscow reportedly have an agreement in place over the signing of Sanchez. Per Romano, Tottenham are in line to receive €12m (approx. £10.4m).

That is far below the £42m (including add-ons) Spurs paid Ajax to sign Sanchez back in 2017. However, it is a reflection of his underwhelming stint in north London, as well as the fact Sanchez only has one year remaining on his contract.

Sierra added the 27-year-old is “very close” to becoming a Spartak player and the Colombian “does not look badly on his arrival in Russian football.” In other words, he’s on board with moving to Russia.

That should help on the personal terms front, with Sierra adding an agreement in that regard is expected to be thrashed out “in the next few hours.”

Sanchez racked up 205 appearances for Tottenham, though has not been a regular starter in the latter half of his stint in the capital.
