Alessandro Bastoni agent stirs up Tottenham transfer links with clear request over Conte approach

The agent of Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni has urged the Inter defender to “adjust” his thinking in a hint over the Inter defender’s future.

Spurs are reportedly going after the 23-year-old centre-back as they look to bolster their defence this summer. Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, who managed Inter last season, is consequently a big fan of the player.

Indeed, Bastoni played a starring role under his fellow Italian as the Serie A club won the title last season.

As for the defender’s future, Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a bid. Inter supposedly want between £51million and £60million for their star centre-back.

However, Bastoni himself does not want to leave Inter, which is so far proving the major stumbling block in a transfer.

Speaking to Sportitalia, though, the player’s agent has now urged his client to adapt to the opportunities that arise in the transfer market.

“He is certainly a big fan of the team he plays for, so he will happily remain at Inter,” Tullio Tinti said.

“However, he is also a professional. This is football and he has to adjust. It’s clear he is very happy to play for Inter and feels this jersey like a tattoo on his skin.”

Bastoni followed up his 41 Inter appearances in 2020/21 with another 44 this term. Overall, he has tallied 118 outings for the Serie A club following his 2017 move from Atalanta.

Bastoni is seemingly standing firm over his future. However, Spurs could yet sway the player’s fate by offering a transfer sum that Inter cannot refuse.

Inter are still facing some financial difficulties and so could well look to cash in on a big profit on their defender.

Ultimately, Bastoni‘s transfer links with Tottenham are all about timing.

The Italian is establishing himself as a leader in the Inter dressing room alongside Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij.

However, the latter pair’s contracts expire next summer and it remains unclear if they will renew. If they move on, there is a chance for Bastoni to become the senior centre-back at Inter.

He admittedly only has two years left on his deal so his own decision on his future is due.

Still, a move to the Premier League could see him work with a manager who trusts him and who would be able to develop him further.

Bastoni wants to stay at Inter, but he must consider the opportunities elsewhere.
