Tottenham leading the chase to sign player dubbed the ‘Guernsey Grealish’

Alex Scott Bristol City 2022 TEAMtalk1

Tottenham are reportedly leading the race to sign talented Bristol City youngster Alex Scott, who is also on the radar of several other Premier League clubs.

The 18-year-old made his first-team breakthrough this season and has featured 28 times in all competitions for the Robins so far this term, scoring on three occasions and adding two assists.

Spurs are said to have sent senior scout Peter Braund to monitor the player, who’s been labelled the ‘Guernsey Grealish’. And the report states that Braund was left very impressed and has urged the club to try and strike a deal.

However, the north London side face strong competition from West Ham, Everton and Leicester for Scott.

Journalist Gregor MacGregor told London World: “Though Spurs may not follow up interest come the summer, the Lilywhites did miss out on Jack Grealish back in the 2018 summer and may not want to pass up on another young midfield talent flourishing in the EFL.”

Scott has performed well for a struggling City side all season. To that end, he would be considered a shrewd signing – if they can pull it off.

Conte is looking for more attacking talent, with the long-term futures of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil in doubt after loan exits in January.

Dele Alli was also sold to Everton, as Conte looks to clear the decks ahead of a big summer.

Spurs will also look to complete the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski. The Swede is on loan with an option to buy for €35million.

Shearer hails inspired Tottenham signing

Meanwhile, Alan Shearer believes Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici has pulled off a masterstroke with the addition of Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski has been an instant hit after making the switch from Juventus in the January transfer window. It did not take the 21-year-old long to endear himself to the Spurs fans. He scored his first goal in the 3-2 win over Manchester City. Kulusevski backed that up with another in the 4-0 rout at Leeds at the weekend to leave Shearer excited.

Spurs left it late to land the Bianconeri starlet on the final day of the window.

But Shearer says better late than never and has praised Paratici for landing a gem. The Newcastle legend was that impressed he named the young Swede in his team of the week.

“Another goal and another very good all-round performance by the Swede, who looks an inspired loan signing,” the pundit revealed.

Kulusevski arrives on an 18-month loan deal but Spurs do have the option to make it permanent. And on the evidence so far that will be a formality.

The Swedish international has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water. Antonio Conte knew the winger would suit his style of play. That is why he tried to sign him when in charge of Inter.
