Ander Herrera makes feelings clear on Tottenham move as Conte is offered PSG quartet

Ander Herrera has reportedly informed PSG that he has no interest in a move to Tottenham amid claims he is one of four players offered to Spurs as part of a swap deal.

Herrera moved to the Ligue 1 giants in summer 2019, signing a five-year deal as his contract at Manchester United came to an end. The 32-year-old spent five seasons at Old Trafford, winning the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup under Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

And it’s due to his strong affiliations with the Red Devils why Herrera is reportedly against the idea of signing for Spurs. Indeed, as per the Daily Express, Herrera is happy at PSG and would only consider a return to the Premier League with United.

The Spaniard was a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and in his parting statement, expressed his desire to return to Manchester.

He said: “I want to say thank you to everyone and I hope the supporters have all appreciated that I have always tried to represent every single Manchester United fan in the best way, on the pitch and off it.

“I have tried to involve myself in the community as well and to the level that Manchester United deserve.

“I hope when I come back to see the club and to see the city I will still have the fans’ love and support.”

As such, Spurs are likely to have to cross off Herrera’s name following a reported offer to them from PSG.

Ander Herrera offered as part of Ndombele bid

As per The Athletic, Herrera’s name is one of four that came up in talks in PSG’s efforts to prise Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham.

Ndombele has not played for Tottenham since January 9. That’s when he was booed off the pitch in an FA Cup win over Morecambe. He has been training alone since as the club try to offload him.

They will not be able to get anywhere near the club-record fee they paid for him in 2019. Therefore, a loan exit – or possible swap deal – looks likely for the midfielder.

Reports last week revealed Paris Saint-Germain are trying to take him on such terms. A deal would reunite him with former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino.

In an effort to grease the wheels and tempt Tottenham to accept their offer, Spurs have reportedly been offered four stars in exchange.

As well as Herrera, the Express writes that Conte has been given his pick from three more. They are Julian Draxler, Danilo and Leandro Paredes.

However, Conte is seemingly happy to bide his time. Neither of the quartet are on his list of prefered targets. As such, he will likely only accept such a deal if he fails to land other targets.

But it seems Ander Herrera won’t be under consideration with the player likely to stand his ground.

Tottenham make progress for Ndombele replacement

Once Ndombele is out of the way, it should allow Tottenham to make a signing of their own.

Reports have indicated that the man to fill the void will be Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Moretto, Amrabat emerged on Spurs’ radar in the last week.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Amrabat is keen on a move to Spurs. And although negotiations are at an “advanced” stage, the deal is not done yet.

The transfer is reliant on Spurs pushing Ndombele out. If that deal goes through then Amrabat will become a Spurs player. Both transfers look likely to be loan deals, with the option to buy.
