Anthony Gordon bombshell rocks Everton, as Tottenham hopes grow after tabling £100m bid including Richarlison

Everton winger Anthony Gordon

Tottenham have tabled a combined bid for Richarlison and Anthony Gordon that totals £100m, and a report has revealed why Everton’s resolve is facing a new test.

Sky Sports reported on Monday that Everton were bracing themselves for imminent bids for Richarlison and Anthony Gordon. Richarlison was a target for London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham. However, the Blues have reportedly agreed a fee for Leeds Utd’s Raphinha, something that could clear the pathway for Spurs to sign Richarlison.

Everton are known to be open to a major sale this summer. The club are under Financial Fair Play pressure and generating upwards of £60m for Richarlison would remedy their woes.

However, the Liverpool Echo reported the idea of losing homegrown talent Gordon was unpalatable. The outlet claimed the Toffees have no intention of letting the 21-year-old go.

According to the Sun, that’s not stopped Tottenham from trying their luck. What’s more, their reported bid is huge and the newspaper state Gordon – like Richarlison – now wants to join Spurs.

The report stated Tottenham ‘have offered £80m plus a further £20m based on appearances’ for the Everton pair.

It’s reaffirmed Everton are open to cashing in on Richarlison. Their reluctance to part ways with Gordon is also confirmed, though the winger reportedly now ‘wants to join the north London club’.

Everton face agonising decision

The fact Gordon seemingly has his heart set on a move away will be a blow to Everton. If the report is accurate, Everton’s resolve will be put to the test, especially if Gordon begins to push for a move internally.

It’s added Spurs are ‘hopeful’ their colossal double offer will be too good to turn down.

The deadline for player sales counting on the balance sheet towards Financial Fair Play for the previous campaign is June 30.

Spurs are clearly well aware of this. The Sun conclude Everton could face sanctions including a points deduction if they don’t make a major sale this week.

Tottenham backing Conte to the hilt

Should the double deal succeed, Tottenham’s summer spend would reach the £105m mark prior to any add-ons being triggered for the Everton pair.

What’s more, Djed Spence remains a target at right wing-back and Antonio Conte still hasn’t signed a new centre-back.

Current targets following their Alessandro Bastoni disappointment include Clement Lenglet and Gleison Bremer. RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol is also on their radar, though that deal may have to wait until 2023.

When all is said and done, the club’s outlay could push past the £150m barrier. Clearly, the Conte-Fabio Paratici tandem is one Spurs supremo Daniel Levy trusts enough to open the purse strings wide.
