Conte tells Tottenham to consider selling regular starter he is ‘not totally convinced’ by

Tottenham Hotspur could listen to offers for Sergio Reguilon in the summer after Antonio Conte paved the way for his exit, a report claims.
There have been plenty of rumours about Reguilon potentially leaving Tottenham recently. But they have always seemed to be about other clubs trying to prise him away, rather than Spurs specifically aiming to offload him.
For example, Barcelona have been linked with the Spaniard as they look for a competitor for Jordi Alba at left-back. Those rumours have been denied by other sources.
Perhaps more realistically, their El Clasico rivals Real Madrid have a buyback clause for the defender. They could activate it to make Reguilon a successor to Marcelo, alongside Ferland Mendy.
It has often been thought that losing Reguilon in such manner would be a blow to Tottenham. The Premier League side would be powerless to prevent the transfer to Madrid.
But according to Football Insider, they could instead actively invite offers for Reguilon to raise funds for other business.
The decision has come from head coach Conte, who is “not totally convinced” by the 25-year-old – despite giving him 18 of his 29 appearances so far this season.
Conte has supposedly told Spurs chiefs that he needs a better option at left wing-back. He is therefore willing for them to sacrifice Reguilon so they can reinvest into other areas too.

Barcelona want Sergio Reguilon from Spurs
Barcelona are interested in Sergio Reguilon from Spurs.
Ryan Sessegnon has been getting more minutes on the left recently. He could be supporting a new starter in Reguilon’s place for next season.
There are no details of the asking price Tottenham would be looking for. They have Reguilon under contract until 2025.
Signed in September 2020, he has made 65 appearances for Tottenham so far.
Tottenham insider slams Reguilon
The update comes after the same outlet quoted a Tottenham insider about how Reguilon has rated recently.
Reporter and pundit John Wenham told Football Insider recently that Conte has been right to favour Sessegnon over Reguilon when he can.
Wenham said: “He’s so average it’s untrue.
“I always go back to these constant rumours about Barcelona or Real Madrid being interested in him. There’s always stuff about them paying a premium for him. It’s nonsense.
“He’s just not that good. He’s the best of the full-backs we have but that’s not really praise at this point. Against Man Utd, he didn’t offer anything, against West Ham was the same.
“For me, he is the worst of the bunch. He wasted so many chances against West Ham. You can absolutely see why Conte kept playing Sessegnon over him until he got injured.
“He wastes so many good crossing opportunities. He was very, very poor [against West Ham]. It’s probably his worst game for Tottenham.”
