Antonio Conte future: Tottenham boss ‘will not be afraid’ if threat of sour Spurs twist rises

Antonio Conte will reportedly not be afraid to battle with Tottenham chiefs over transfer backing this summer, amid doubt over his future.

The Italian’s spell in the Spurs dugout has so far proved a tale of two halves. Following an inconsistent start, he claimed in February that he was seeing no real progress. He subsequently admitted major doubt over whether he would stay.

Since then, he has got a response and Tottenham are now firmly in the hunt for a top-four Premier League finish. Indeed, the fate of their Champions League hopes will prove a major turning point in the club’s fortunes either way.

Conte wants to take Tottenham to the next level but needs Champions League football and transfer investment first.

This summer is therefore a crucial one for the club. And according to But! Football Club, Conte will not mince his words in discussions with chairman Daniel Levy and director of football Fabio Paratici.

In fact, if he does not receive word from both of significant backing, Conte could yet walk away.

The 52-year-old is ‘not against’ staying in London but has to be sure that he will have the funds to develop the team.

Otherwise, the report adds that Paris Saint-Germain is still a potential next destination for Conte.

The manager claimed last week that links with taking over from Mauricio Pochettino in the French capital are “fake”.

However, the latest report claims that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is still eyeing up the possibility.

Crucially, though, PSG are also considering Spezia manager Thiago Motta to take over at the Parc des Princes.

Antonio Conte has proven Tottenham worth

With Conte seeking major Tottenham transfer investment this summer, he has already proved his worth.

Spurs’ record in the transfer market has been patchy for some time now. Summer 2021 additions Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal have had their moments, but neither have truly made their mark.

In fact, Conte sent former Sevilla man back to Spain with a loan at Valencia in January.

Furthermore, record arrival Tanguy Ndombele, signed in summer 2019, is out on loan at Lyon after struggling to settle in north London.

In Conte’s first transfer window, he brought in former Juventus pair Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Both players have played vital roles in Tottenham’s revival of late and so Conte has already proved that he deserves more backing.
