Antonio Conte sack to cost second Tottenham man his job after convincing Levy to take doomed step

Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Fabio Paratici

Antonio Conte is not the only decision maker at Tottenham Hotspur who risks losing his job, according to the latest reports.

Conte is expected to leave Tottenham imminently after his recent outburst against the club’s owners and players. Although his contract would expire in the summer anyway, Spurs might have to sack him now to draw a line under a turbulent spell.

The current international break has given them a window of opportunity to make a change. Therefore, it could be a matter of time before Conte gets his marching orders.

Consequently, it seems likely that Ryan Mason will take the reins on an interim basis again, just as he did when Jose Mourinho was dismissed two years ago.

Beyond then, Tottenham will have to work out who will guide them in the long term. But before they reach that decision, there could be another casualty of Conte’s exit.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham could also part company with director of football, Fabio Paratici.

The Italian was the man who convinced Daniel Levy to put his faith in Conte. The club responded by making a major financial commitment to the head coach, which hasn’t paid off.

Paratici could pay the price by leaving Tottenham as well, after failing to rekindle the success of his partnership with Conte from their Juventus days.

Besides, Paratici’s signings for Spurs have varied in their success. Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur are probably the ones to have earned the most respect.

On the flipside, though, the likes of Bryan Gil, Pape Matar Sarr and Emerson Royal have failed to meet expectations. Furthermore, there has been pressure on last summer’s most expensive recruit, Richarlison.

The Brazilian forward even recently vented his frustration at Conte in a sign of how bad things have become.

Therefore, Paratici might have some other issues to answer for in addition to Conte’s struggles.

Paratici facing uncertain future after Tottenham

He is also currently under investigation by the Italian authorities regarding some suspect business by Juventus during his time there. Paratici has appealed a 30-month ban and will discover the outcome on April 19.

Hence, if he leaves Tottenham, he might be out of work for a while unless his appeal is successful – in which case he might look for a different job with another Serie A side.

Paratici has only been working with Tottenham since the summer of 2021. Yet it seems he has not brought the stability they were hoping to see across different managerial regimes.

A few months prior to Conte’s appointment, Paratici also caused a deal for Spurs to give Paulo Fonseca the manager’s job to fall through.

His time with Tottenham could certainly be described as eventful, but not for the ways he would have wanted.

For now, though, all eyes will be on when Conte loses his job first and foremost.

His position may well be untenable after what he has said in the media recently. And should Paratici follow him out the door, Spurs really would be going back to square one.

Another rebuild could soon be necessary in north London.
