Conte told he’s made a mistake with ostracised Tottenham star ‘one of the best in the world’

Tottenham have been told they may have been too quick to show Giovani Lo Celso the door with one of the player’s new teammates wacxing lyrical about the Argentine.
Lo Celso never truly reached the heights expected of him at Spurs. The midfielder had a direct hand in just 14 goals in 84 appearances for the club – a massive disappointment considering their sizeable £34m investment.
As such, Conte very quickly decided to move him on, with a loan switch to Villarreal signalling the end – for now at least – his time at Spurs.
The Argentinian had much more of an impact in Spain before his move. He scored nine goals and registered five assists for Real Betis the season prior to making the switch to England.
As such, his decision to return to Spain on loan comes as no surprise. Lo Celso himself has admitted the decision to depart Spurs on loan was one he arrived at quickly.
“This [Villarreal] is a club that looks very serious and orderly, that football-wise I really like what I see,” he told Sport.
“I like its philosophy and its idea of the game, to which is added that I already knew the coach. So I put everything on the scale and made up my mind very quickly.”
And Lo Celso has seemingly got himself very quickly up to speed back in La Liga. Playing alongside compatriots Juan Foyth and Geronimo Rulli, the little town in Spain is providing a change of scene for the Argentine.
And now Rulli has had his say on the arrival of Lo Celso.

Antonio Conte lucky with January transfer window
Antonio Conte can’t believe his luck as Tottenham get rid of 4 players during January transfer window
Speaking with Super Deporte, via Sport Witness, he claims the player is ready to make his mark.
“No doubt he will contribute a lot. Gio will give us a plus as a team, and help us improve,” the goalkeeper said.
“I don’t reveal anything by saying who Gio is. He is a top player in the world. I know the kind of person he is and also his talent as a player, a starter with Argentina. I hope he fits [in] easily.”
Conte wants to help Harry Kane become even better
Conte, meahwhile, has called Harry Kane “world class” – but wants to take him to a new level.
“Surely when you have a player like Harry Kane, you have to try to involve him in your tactical idea of football,” Conte said.
“He’s an important player for us and he has to be a point of reference when we develop our football offensively.
“We’re trying to work with him in many aspects. I think every single player can improve until he decides to stop his career.
“We’re talking about a really good person who shows desire every day in training. He’s available for his team-mates and is always ready to speak about football, to improve and to see new tactical situations.
“I repeat: We’re talking about a world-class striker and I’m trying to help him to become also better and better. Me, my staff on the physical aspect are working – but not only with him, with all the team.
“To reduce the gap, it’s very important to improve every single player in many aspects.
“If this player is Kane we’re talking about a world-class striker, but it’s the same with (Dane) Scarlett. We have to improve every single player in this way to be more competitive as a team than before.”
