Big worry for Tottenham as Harry Kane receives advice Antonio Conte will hate to hear

Harry Kane missed chance Tottenham

Harry Kane has been told that he will have no choice but to leave Tottenham if he is to ever enjoy trophy success in his career.

The England captain and Tottenham talisman was at his imperious best on Monday as he bagged twice in a 5-0 rout of Everton. In the process, Kane overtook Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in the Premier League goalscoring charts. It was no doubt a proud moment for Kane and his family with more goals almost certain to come.

However, Kane remains without a trophy to his name  – with Spurs lasting tasting success in the League Cup final back in 2008.

Since then, there has been a few near-misses – not least the 2019 Champions League final.

But sadly for Kane, and Spurs, trophy success has eluded them, leading to speculation that Kane will move on.

That reached fever pitch last summer when Kane was the subject of two failed bids from Manchester City. The Spurs striker clearly wanted the move – but Daniel Levy held firm and Kane was forced to eventually pledge his commitment to the cause.

Since then, reports are indicating that Kane will be the subject of fresh interest once again.

The likes of City, as well as other big hitters like PSG and Manchester United are likely to be interested if there is any indication he will leave.

The move to Old Trafford was the move Teddy Sheringham made way back in 1997. He departed in the hunt for trophies – and the move paid dividends as United famously won the Treble in 1999.

Now Sheringham has advised Kane that, in what is only a short career, he will have to leave Spurs if he too wants to win trophies.

‘Needs to win trophies’

He told Sky Sports: “It’s a tough one. He’s got to eye up the situation the same as what I did really.

“You get 12 to 14 years if you are lucky he’s come to another crossroads in his career where he’s thinking what to do. Do I stay at a club that might challenge or do I go somewhere I know they are going to challenge.

“If I was advising him, which Tottenham supporters are not very happy about when I say this, you want to play at the top level.

“You want to be playing in Champions League finals. A player wants to be playing at the end of the season for the league title. You want to be playing in FA Cup finals.

Harry Kane could force a move out if his conditions aren't met.

“If you want to do that, I think he needs to leave.”

Conte will loathe to hear Harry Kane ‘advice’

Sheringham’s advice to Kane will not go down well with Conte.

The Italian manager, of course, wants to build his side around his striker. As such, he’s spoken in the past at just how good he can become.

Conte has called the 28-year-old “world class” but wants to take him to a new level.

“Surely when you have a player like Harry Kane, you have to try to involve him in your tactical idea of football,” Conte said last month.

“He’s an important player for us and he’s a point of reference when we develop our football offensively.

“We’re trying to work with him in many aspects. I think every single player can improve until he decides to stop his career.

“We’re talking about a really good person who shows desire every day in training.

“I repeat: We’re talking about a world-class striker and I’m trying to help him to become also better and better. Me, my staff on the physical aspect are working – but not only with him, with all the team.

“To reduce the gap, it’s very important to improve every single player in many aspects.

“If this player is Kane we’re talking about a world-class striker, but it’s the same with (Dane) Scarlett. We have to improve every single player in this way to be more competitive as a team than before.”
