Christian Eriksen transfer latest: Star told why Man Utd are beneath him as Hojbjerg drops Tottenham signing reveal

Tottenham are looking increasingly likely to re-sign Christian Eriksen following a strong admission from Denmark teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The classy midfielder is now a free agent, having completed his fairytale return to the game. A cardiac arrest at last summer’s European Championships almost had catastrophic effects. However, after taking medical advice, Eriksen returned to football, signing a six-month deal with Brentford.
Their boss Thomas Frank has handled his return exceptionally well. And the Bees boss has made no secret of his wish to extend his stay.
They are not the only clubs in the mix, however. Former club Tottenham are lurking for his signature, while West Ham and Manchester United are both reportedly keen.
However, there is a growing theory that the 30-year-old will choose from one of Tottenham or Brentford. His family are settled back in the London area and a move north to Manchester does not make much sense.
“I do not think that there are some football players who can just pick and choose between clubs, because there are many criteria that come into play. There are also many clubs that need to see one’s path before that happens.
“I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision. I’d love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn’t essential for me,” the star told Viaplay.
Hojbjerg reveals talks over emotional return
That is something that Spurs, of course, can offer him.
And Tottenham and Denmark midfielder Hojbjerg admits he’s held talks with boss Antonio Conte over a potential return to Spurs for the player.
“Everyone knows that Christian is master of his own future,” he told Danish outlet Bold. “He needs to have peace of mind with the family, to figure out what the next step is for him. And I am sure he will make the best possible choice for himself.
“Yes, [Conte] has asked me how he is. When we came back after being together last, he asked me how he was doing. Of course, I can [see him coming back to Tottenham]. Then there is the question of whether he himself can, but of course, I can see that Christian can contribute something to that team.
“It could be fun for all parties, but I do not think it is opportunities he lacks. And then it’s just what is the right opportunity and what he himself feels for.
“Many of my teammates in the club talk about him occasionally. Some of them might even talk to him once in a while. He made a fantastic impression there as a player and as a person, and it was noticed by many.”
Man Utd move beneath Christian Eriksen – Agbonlahor
Amid the uncertainty over his future, former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has advised Eriksen to rule out a move to Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag takes over a side that underperformed last season, labouring home in sixth.
As a result, Agbonlahor has told talkSPORT why a move there is below the player.
“I think he’d make every team better. Imagine playing with him, the runs you could make, he’d find you with his passing.
“I’m sure he’s got so many options and there’s talk about Manchester United, but I don’t know about that. I think he can do better than United.”

Erik Ten Hag targeting Christian Eriksen move for Manchester United
Christian Eriksen could solve Manchester United’s problems this summer with free transfer
To a large degree, Agbonlahor is talking a lot of sense. The pressure to deliver at Manchester United would be intense, compared to Tottenham and, certainly, Brentford.
And why would Eriksen uproot his family to move north – that’s a move that literally makes little sense.
Instead, the player must choose between the Bees or Spurs. Whichever decision he makes must be right for him and his long-term health as Christian Eriksen looks to write the next chapter of his fairytale comeback.
