Christian Eriksen asked about celebrating vs Tottenham as he discusses future

Christian Eriksen says “everything is open” ahead of the summer with his former club Tottenham Hotspur reportedly one of the clubs considering re-signing the midfielder.
Eriksen’s return to the Premier League has been a remarkable one. The midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 group game against Finland at the Parken Stadium last June.
Thankfully, he was resuscitated on the pitch and recovered in hospital. He then received an ICD [implantable cardioverter-defibrillator] which now helps monitor his heart. And that enabled him to return to the game he loves.
He signed at Brentford on a deal until the end of the season in January. And he has been an overwhelming success.
Brentford have won all five games in which Eriksen has started, with the Denmark star scoring once and making two assists.
That has brought him to the attention of his former club Spurs, with The Times reporting Antonio Conte is keen on landing the 30-year-old.
The Italian is certainly a fan of Eriksen having signed him from Spurs for Inter Milan in January 2020.
And Conte will get a close-up view of the player, who took a big wage cut, when the two teams meet on Saturday evening.
“I see at Brentford they are playing sometimes 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 and in 3-5-2, he is doing the same things he did with Inter by being their playmaker.
“When you have a player with great availability to improve themselves and put themselves at the service of the team, it’s easier for a manager. And Christian is one of these types of player. I don’t remember once that he complained when he was on the bench. A top player, a top person in every moment,” said Conte.
As far as the player is concerned, his future remains “open”.
His six-month deal will expire with the Bees in June and there is not understood to be an extension clause in that deal.
But the Bees are desperate to keep the player. And they will meet with the player’s entourage at the end of the season.

Asked if he would celebrate against Spurs on Saturday if he scored, he said: “Probably not!”
Eriksen: Spurs game will be ‘special’
“I can’t wait. It’s going to be special. First of all, it’s just being back playing football. Then there’s always the small bits in between of what is the goal.
“I’m definitely looking forward to Saturday for sure,” Eriksen told Sky Sports
“When I signed here in January, it was actually coming back and showing I was a football player and could play football. There was also the six months of a test trial. By now, it feels good.
“But for the future, I don’t know. I’m just enjoying the moment, every game is really fun to play in. What happens in the summer will be a decision for me as a footballer and as a family man.
“Everything is open. I’ve been taken good care of at Brentford. They’ve really shown me a lot of love and trying to repay them for what they’ve showed me. Every option is open, either at Brentford or anywhere else,” he added.
