Tottenham Hotspur have announced their fourth new signing of the summer transfer window, with Israel winger Manor Solomon arriving on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Solomon spent last season on loan at Tottenham’s Premier League competitors Fulham. While he was not always a regular starter at Craven Cottage, he impressed and went on to net five goals in 24 appearances across all competitions. That included goals in four consecutive league games, with Solomon showing his ability to cut inside from the left flank and beat the goalkeeper with a curling right-footed strike.

Solomon impressed Tottenham chiefs during his time at Fulham and they started to look into signing him on May 27.

On July 2, Fabrizio Romano revealed Spurs had ‘reached an agreement’ with Solomon ahead of a potential transfer to north London. The two parties finalised a five-year contract, with Spurs soon booking the wide man in for a medical. Romano resultantly gave the move his ‘here we go’ seal of approval.

Solomon’s agent, Ben Ezra, then revealed Spurs had beaten Aston Villa, West Ham and RB Leipzig to the 23-year-old’s capture.

Spurs had to push Solomon’s medical back by a week, but such tests have now gone through smoothly and the club have been able to announce his arrival.

A club statement read: ‘We are delighted to announce the signing of Manor Solomon. The Israel international has agreed a deal with the club that will run until 2028, subject to international clearance and work permit.’

Tottenham save money with Solomon capture

Solomon was available on a free transfer due to a FIFA ruling which applies to foreign players representing Ukrainian clubs in the wake of the Russian invasion of the country.

Solomon is rated at £15.3m by transfermarkt, so Spurs have done well to capitalise on this rule and bring him in on a free. Fulham will be disappointed as they were hoping to land the attacker on a permanent basis following his temporary spell with them.

Instead, Solomon has become the fourth signing of Ange Postecoglou’s reign at Spurs. Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison have joined from Empoli and Leicester City respectively, while Spurs have signed Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent basis following his initial loan. Plus, Pedro Porro’s loan has automatically become permanent.

Meanwhile, Spurs and West Ham look set to miss out on a Championship ace as TEAMtalk understands Bournemouth are frontrunners to land him.
