Daniel Levy to push through imminent Tottenham signing with personal terms agreed

Daniel Levy is taking charge of a Tottenham transfer that will soon cross the line, and an agreement on personal terms is already in place, per a report.

It’s shaping up to be a pivotal summer for Spurs who have question marks dotted all over the club. A new sporting director and permanent manager are yet to be installed. Elsewhere, the future of talismanic frontman Harry Kane will come to a head.

However, one encouraging piece of business that should soon go through is the permanent signing of Sweden winger, Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham signed the 23-year-old Juventus forward on an 18-month loan back in the winter window of 2022.

The initial loan deal cost €10m and contained an obligation to buy worth a reported €35m that would activate if Spurs qualified for the Champions League in the 2022/23 campaign.

A disappointing eighth-placed finish voided the obligation, though both Football London and the Evening Standard confirm a back-up plan was put in place.

Indeed, Spurs hedged their bets and inserted an option to buy in Kulusevski’s loan deal too. Football London state it’s worth €35m (approx. £30.25m), while the Standard differ when claiming it’s actually worth €30m (approx. £26m).

In any case, what is clear is despite rumours to the contrary, Tottenham are prepared to complete Kulusevskli’s permanent arrival.

Tottenham to activate option; Daniel Levy pulling the strings

The Standard state Tottenham ‘intend to take up the option to sign Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent basis this summer’.

Once done, Kulusevski will ‘automatically transfer onto a long-term contract’ that was pre-agreed when the initial loan was sanctioned.

The Standard note Kulusevski’s permanent arrival was practically a formality under the previous Antonio Conte-Fabio Paratici regime.

Both have since moved on, and without a permanent manager or sporting director in situ, doubts as to whether Kulusevski would be signed arose.

However, chairman Daniel Levy is now the chief decision-maker while other important positions remain unfilled and it’s seemingly he who is taking the lead on taking up Kulusevski’s option.

The Swede underwhelmed in the current campaign, though was far from alone in a Tottenham shirt in that regard.

Hopes will be high he can replicate the form he showed during his first six months at the club. Kulusevski bagged an impressive five goals and eight assists in 18 matches to help Spurs overhaul Arsenal and into fourth sport in the 2021/22 season.
