Danjuma arrival at Tottenham opens door for Spanish outfit to snatch talented Spurs attacker

Spanish giants Sevilla are reportedly ready to make a fresh move for a Tottenham attacker after seeing the north London club snap up Arnaut Danjuma on Wednesday.

The Netherlands international has arrived on loan from Villarreal with an option to buy at the end of the current campaign if he manages to impress during his short stay in north London.

Spurs beat a number of clubs to the capture of the forward, most notably Everton and Aston Villa.

Danjuma is now expected to battle with the likes of Richarlison for a regular starting role, with the £50m Brazilian almost certain to get the nod in the FA Cup tie at Preston this coming weekend.

Former Bournemouth winger Danjuma could also make his debut in the game, with Conte taking the chance to rest the likes of Harry Kane.

The game at North End would have also been the perfect opportunity for Bryan Gil to be handed a run out again.

The Spaniard impressed in the 4-0 rout of Crystal Palace but has not been since due to a minor knock.

And it would appear that he could soon be on his way out of the club on loan once again.

Gil spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, making 17 appearances for Los che in that time.

Sevilla step up efforts to bring back Gil

Sevilla have now ramped up their efforts to try and bring the 21-year-old back to the club where it all started for him.

A report in Spanish outlet Outlet Mucho Deporte states that Sevilla are expected to try and make an attempt to sign Gil before the window shuts next week.

Manager Jorge Sampaoli wants the tricky playmaker on board, given his previous experience in LaLiga. It’s expected that the deal will be a loan with an option to purchase this summer.

Sevilla are not the only club showing an interest, however. The report adds that Valencia and Villarreal are also keen, along with clubs in France.

Gil only has 306 minutes played in 10 appearances this season, and Antonio Conte continues to be of the belief that the player is too lightweight for English football.

The arrival of Danjuma also hasn’t helped. Indeed, the loan addition is now expected to take up Gil’s bench role as he aims to push for a starting spot that the former could never really demand.

Tottenham are back in action on Saturday evening when they head to Preston in the FA Cup fourth round.
