Tottenham star has escaped frustration and is not contemplating career elsewhere

Dejan Kulusevski has found his spell with Tottenham Hotspur refreshing so far compared to his stint with Juventus and is focused fully on his current commitments.

Tottenham signed Kulusevski on an initial loan deal from Juventus in January. He joined along with teammate Rodrigo Bentancur, who instead penned permanent terms. Kulusevski’s move could also become permanent should Spurs decide to activate their option to buy, or meet the requirements for it to be an obligation.

The spell has been beneficial for the winger so far. Since joining Tottenham, he has contributed two goals and four assists from 11 appearances between the Premier League and FA Cup.

It means a permanent transfer is looking more likely. For now, though, Kulusevski must simply focus on his duties on the pitch, without thinking about where he will be playing beyond the 2023 expiry date of his loan.

Nevertheless, the Sweden international has admitted while away with his country that things have fallen into place for him quickly under Antonio Conte at Tottenham.

As such, he can now confidently express that he is only thinking about Spurs at present.

He told a press conference: “There is a lot to click for a football player and it can go quickly.

“At Juventus, there was a lot that did not work and it was very frustrating. At Tottenham, I breathe new air, have a better relationship with the manager, have received better training and built up my body. It happened in a week.”

No further Kulusevski talks yet

The 21-year-old also conceded that there have not been any talks about his future yet. Still, he is not letting his mind drift away from his current situation.

Kulusevski added: “I feel great at Tottenham. All my focus is Tottenham. I do not think of anything else.”

Before his spells with Juventus and Tottenham, Kulusevski developed in Serie A with Atalanta and Parma. Since moving to the Premier League, he has coped well with the transition to English football.

His loan is due to last for 18 months, so Tottenham will have at least one more of Kulusevski’s services to enjoy.

Beyond then, though, there are factors that could prompt him to become a permanent member of the Spurs squad.

The Guardian recently wrote that Spurs can activate a €30m option to buy Kulusevski either this summer or next year. But that would become mandatory, for €35m, if he plays at least half of their Premier League matches for 45 minutes or more next season, and they qualify for the Champions League.

There are many implications behind the deal, so Kulusevski can only let his football do the talking.
