Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer for Serie A star, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, while a South American striker is attracted by the prospect of joining Manchester United – all in Monday’s Euro transfer gossip.
MILINKOVIC-SAVIC COULD BE SUBJECT OF SPURS OFFER
Tottenham are ready to launch a €45million bid for Lazio midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, which could rise to €60million.
That’s according to Calciomercatoweb, who claim Antonio Conte is a big admirer of the Serbia international. After an already busy summer in the transfer window, Milinkovic-Savic could become one of Tottenham’s last big objectives.
Conte and Fabio Paratici have often looked back to their native Italy for reinforcements. For example, this summer they have signed Ivan Perisic after he left Inter and are closing in on a deal for Destiny Udogie with Udinese.
Milinkovic-Savic could be a high-profile recruit if Calciomercatoweb‘s information is accurate.
According to the Italian source, Tottenham could make a €45m (£38m) offer for Milinkovic-Savic, whose contract with Lazio is due to expire in 2024. Bonuses could increase the amount to €60m (£50.7m).
As for personal terms, Tottenham would be willing to give Milinkovic-Savic a contract worth €6m net per year. It would equate to around £97,500 per week.
By doing so, Tottenham could outmuscle another of the Spanish-born star’s suitors, Juventus.
Tottenham offloading midfielders to make room for Milinkovic-Savic
To reach that point, though, Spurs must offload some of their current midfielders. They are already in the process of doing so; Giovani Lo Celso has returned to Villarreal and Tanguy Ndombele is close to joining Napoli.
The report also mentions youngster Pape Matar Sarr as someone who could find a new club by the end of the month.
Once those pieces fall into place, Tottenham should have space in their squad for Milinkovic-Savic. At the age of 27, he is in his prime and would therefore likely be a regular starter in Conte’s midfield.
Tottenham can also offer him the step up to Champions League level. The same would go for Juventus, but perhaps Milinkovic-Savic could change scenery altogether by taking up a new challenge in the Premier League.
