Tottenham transfer news: Fabio Paratici looks to land ‘extraordinary’ Juventus attacker but faces two rivals

Tottenham are reportedly in a race with Premier League rivals Brighton and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in their efforts to sign a Juventus winger.

The north London club are set for a busy January, with Antonio Conte wanting to add at least two quality players to his squad. However, sporting director Fabio Paratici also has a keen eye on the future.

While Conte favours bringing in experienced talent, hence the summer moves for Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Clement Lenglet, Paratici also has a brief to plan for the future.

That was evidenced in Tottenham bringing in Sheffield United’s Will Lankshear in the last window. And the striker has already made a big impression by scoring a brace on his Under-18s debut, while also netting in the UEFA Youth League.

It now appears that Paratici is looking to work his magic by signing Juve star Samuel Iling-Junior.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims that Spurs have a genuine interest in the winger. However, they face competition from Brighton and Leipzig for his signature.

Iling-Junior was actually born in England and began his career in Chelsea’s academy before joining Juve in 2020. At that time, he was also wanted by PSG, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old normally plays on the left wing and has broken into the Juventus first team this season.

Iling-Junior came off the bench against Benfica in the Champions League last month and set up two goals. That cameo led to the Italian media labeling his performance as ‘extraordinary’.

But The Athletic adds that Juve have yet to tie the player down to a long-term contract. To that end, clubs have begun to circle on the impressive talent.

However, Paratici will have some convincing to do to try and tempt the player to north London.

Both Brighton and Leipzig are famed for their track record of landing top young European talent. But Paratici’s links to Juve could give him an advantage.

Iling-Junior is being viewed as the potential long-term successor to Son Heung-min, who has been linked with a shock move away from Tottenham this season after an indifferent start to the new campaign.

The South Korean could also miss the upcoming World Cup after having surgery on his fractured cheekbone.

Son suffered the injury in the Champions League win at Marseille and faces a race against time to be fit for the tournament in Qatar.

Tottenham are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they host Liverpool.

A win for Conte’s men will see them close the gap on the current top Manchester City and Arsenal.
