Tottenham have reportedly reignited their interest in Frankfurt star Filip Kostic, who is a target of multiple sides this summer.
Kostic has been a terrific asset to Frankfurt for the past few seasons. He has scored seven goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions this campaign.
Last season, he amassed a hefty total of 17 assists in the league, as well as scoring four goals. Clearly, he is not only a competent provider, but goalscorer too.
Kostic is able to play in a range of positions. The Serbian is mainly utilised on the left side of the field, either as a winger, or in a deeper role, at wing-back.
Their previous interest spanned from the January transfer window. Since then, Kostic has continued to perform, and even has a Europa League medal to show for his performances.
The 29-year-old scored three goals and provided six assists in Frankfurt’s European campaign, as well as scoring a penalty in the nervy final shootout.
European experience is likely something that Spurs are very interested in, and is something Kostic has in abundance.
Barring a major blunder, Spurs will pip their north London rivals Arsenal to a Champions League spot. Antonio Conte will no doubt be keen on making a success of his first European competition with the club.
Indeed, adding someone like Kostic to the side seems a good piece of business from the Italian manager.
Kostic to Spurs could bear fruit
A move from Frankfurt to Tottenham for Kostic could well be one that bears fruit. The Serbian is out of contract next season, and selling up and guaranteeing a fee may be wise for Frankfurt.
That is especially true given the sheer number of clubs that are reportedly interested in a transfer for the star.
West Ham and Arsenal are two more Premier League sides that are keen on him. There is also a fair bit of interest in Kostic from Italy.
As such, there may be something of a bidding war for him. With Spurs likely in a Champions League spot, a move there may be an attractive one for Kostic.
Of course, Frankfurt would have to sanction that. Tottenham seemingly have the funds to prise Kostic – valued at £18million by transfermarkt – to north London.
With that being said, Tottenham could be in the box seat for the transfer of their January target. Kostic would no doubt do well in the Premier League, as he has done tremendously in the Bundesliga for years.
