Former Tottenham star names only two managers who could convince Harry Kane to sign new deal

Harry Kane Tottenham

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has named the only two managerial appointments that might convince Harry Kane to sign a new deal with the club.

The club’s all-time leading goalscorer will be out of contract in the summer of 2024 and is currently mulling over whether to extend his stay after another trophyless campaign in north London.

And Hutton believes that the England skipper may have to come to terms with winning no silverware, if he does decide to sign on the dotted line again.

However, one of the key factors over Kane’s decision will be who takes charge of the club in the summer.

Tottenham only recently parted company with Antonio Conte, with Cristian Stellini in charge for the remainder of the season. But a new manager will be appointed in the coming months.

Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino remain the favourites for the hotseat. However, we have since revealed a potential snag in landing the former.

Kane may never win a trophy

And Hutton claims whoever comes in next will have a major bearing on what Kane decides, especially with Manchester United lurking in the background.

The Scot told Football Insider: “I think the next manager can have an impact on Kane’s future.

“But there was all this talk with him before Conte came in about how they’ve not won anything. He was meant to be a serial winner, but he couldn’t do it with Spurs.

“If Harry Kane was unsure going into the summer, what’s he thinking now Conte’s left?

“If they go out and get Nagelsmann, or Pochettino – that could go in the club’s favour. But I don’t think he should make that decision based on the manager.

“He could stay at Tottenham for life and possibly not win anything, or he could go somewhere else and win trophies.”

Kane will be back in action in a Spurs shirt on Monday evening when Stellini takes charge at Everton.

Tottenham could, however, be out of the top four by then if Newcastle beat Manchester United on Sunday.
