Four Tottenham defenders on chopping block as ruthless Ange Postecoglou preps for new recruits
Ange Postecoglou has been told that he should ditch four Tottenham defenders this summer as the club prepare to bring in new additions.
The new Spurs boss has identified his defence as an area in need of somewhat of an overhaul, especially centrally, after the north London side conceded 63 goals in 38 Premier League games last season.
The likes of Micky Van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba continue to be strongly tipped to join the club, with respective asking prices of around £30million and £40m. Juventus star Gleison Bremer is another target, having been earmarked by Posteoclgou himself.
Indeed, the 26-year-old Brazilian has been a long-term target for Spurs, who were interested in him before he made the move to Turin last summer.
However, there are likely to be outgoings first and former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton knows exactly who should be on the chopping block.
Speaking to Football Insider the Scot revealed that Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Ben Davies could all be on the way out.
Hutton said: “I think he will want more than one, I think he will want a couple [of defenders].
“I think it has been a big problem for Tottenham, especially over the last season.
“There is a lot of players that have been there for a long period of time and have struggled. So it is probably about time they had a new challenge.
“Ange will obviously analyse his whole squad but I am sure he has got targets in mind of who he wants.”

Time for quartet to move on
And while Postecoglou will be looking at players to improve a faltering backline, Hutton believes the time has come for a quartet of stars to find new clubs.
He added, in his interview with Football Insider: “For me, there is question marks of Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, all of them. Even Davies, I think he has done well but is it time for him to move on?
“It is not all going to happen in one transfer window but he is going to have to move on players to bring his own targets in.”
Tottenham are expected to step up their efforts to sign at least one of Van de Ven, Tapsoba or Bremer in the coming week, despite the club beginning their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia over the weekend.
The hope is that any new additions will be able to join up with the party as Spurs prepare for their season opener at Brentford next month.
