Gabriel Jesus transfer latest: Arsenal have free run as Tottenham withdraw interest to focus on Brazil pair

Gabriel Jesus Man City

Tottenham have reportedly switched their attention away from Gabriel Jesus and have two Brazilians in focus, giving Arsenal a free run to sign the Manchester City man.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been chasing Jesus for some months and with Alexandre Lacazette’s departure he is desperate for a new No.9.

Entering the final year of his contract with Manchester City, Jesus is available. And a move to Arsenal would reunite him with former City assistant manager Arteta.

The striker’s representatives are believed to be heading to England to finalise a move.

Speaking on Wednesday, CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that Arsenal had  “verbally” agreed a fee for the Brazilian.

What’s more Tottenham have pulled out of the race.

According to the Evening Standard, Spurs have now “ended their interest” in the 25-year-old, meaning Arsenal can press ahead with the finer details.

Whether Spurs removed themselves from the running because Gabriel Jesus had already made his mind up on a move to the Emirates is unclear.

But the paper claims Conte will now focus his efforts on Leeds United’s Raphinha or Everton’s Richarlison.

Spurs have “turned their attentions” to the duo after “firming up their interest” in the pair.

Steven Bergwijn is expected to join Ajax, leaving Conte with at least one hole to fill. Neither player though will come cheaply with both expected to command fees in excess of £50m.

Arsenal and Spurs chase Raphinha

Raphinha remains a target for Arsenal and they are understood to have seen an offer rejected for the 25-year-old.

The winger though is believed to be holding out for a move to Barcelona. The LaLiga giants are also keen but are unwilling to meet Leeds’ asking price which could have risen as high as £65m.

Spurs are believed to have informed the West Yorkshire side of their interest and are readying their first offer.

Richarlison meanwhile is expected to leave Everton this summer as he looks for a new challenge.

The Mail claim Todd Boehly’s Chelsea are also keen on Richarlison.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2024 with the Toffees reportedly seeking £51m for the striker.

The report claims it will be either Raphinha or Richarlison for Conte. Spurs are not likely to sign both as the Italian looks to stamp his authority on the squad.
