Tottenham man will be ‘one of the most desired’ players in summer transfer market

Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso will be “one the most desired” players in the summer transfer market after an impressive loan spell, claims a report in Spain.
Lo Celso was allowed to join Villarreal on loan in January. The Argentina midfielder has made 84 appearances for Spurs since arriving from Real Betis in 2019. But his game time under Antonio Conte was sparse. In fact he made just two sub appearances in the Premier League under the Italian.
He also made three cup appearances, but Conte was happy to allow the 25-year-old to leave on a season-long loan. It meant Conte could add Rodrigo Bentancur to his squad.
The midfielder’s omission from the matchday squad to face Chelsea in January triggered the move.
Lo Celso made it clear he was “100% in good physical condition” following his shock omission. And a move to Spain materialised the week after.
“This [Villarreal] is a club that looks very serious and orderly, that football-wise I really like what I see,” he told Sport.
“I like its philosophy and its idea of the game, to which is added that I already knew the coach. So I put everything on the scale and made up my mind very quickly.”
And since his move to the Yellow Submarine, Lo Celso has been integral starting five of their six LaLiga games. Playing as a second striker or in an attacking midfield role the player has impressed under Unai Emery.
Emery is a coach who is familiar to the Spurs man.
Lo Celso could be in demand
“I already knew the coach (Unai Emery) from PSG. [I] know how he works, what he can ask of a player and how he can make him perform,” he said earlier this week.
Lo Celso refused to be drawn on his future and said:”We will see what happens in the summer.”
But, according to Estadio Deportivo, via Sport Witness, Lo Celso is “feeling like a player again”
Lo Celso is apparently looking like the player that “everyone fell in love with” at Real Betis. And Villarreal’s prospects of keeping him look good.
The source claim “in principle” he will have to return to Tottenham, but his “continuity” at the club does not seem likely. What’s more they suggest the player will be “one of the most desired” players in the summer transfer window.
