Harry Kane claps after Tottenham game

Bayern Munich have not received an entirely abrupt ‘no’ from the representatives of Harry Kane over a 2023 Tottenham swoop, a report has claimed.

Kane has proved a fantastic servant for Spurs ever since making his name in the first team under Mauricio Pochettino. In fact, he has gone on to score 247 goals in 385 games for the club.

He has also become the England captain and will look to lead the Three Lions at the Qatar World Cup.

However, there is lingering uncertainty over Kane’s future at Tottenham. Last summer, he failed to get a dream move to Manchester City.

The striker has found a new lease of life under Antonio Conte as Spurs return to the Champions League and look to push on from a top-four Premier League finish. But ahead of his 29th birthday next week, if silverware still evades Tottenham, his desire for silverware will become greater.

And that is why German champions Bayern are closely monitoring Kane’s situation.

Reports earlier this month claimed that the striker’s move to Bavaria was deemed ‘conceivable’ by the Bundesliga giants.

German newspaper Bild now reports that Bayern chiefs have stepped up their chase for Kane by conducting ‘initial research’.

They have not received an abrupt ‘no’ – or an instant rejection of any sort – from the England star’s camp.

That has made Bayern sit up and take notice of a potential opportunity to sign Kane next summer.

However, the German champions know that Tottenham want to tie their star man down to another contract. As a result, they are still acting with caution this summer.

But there is a Robert Lewandowski-sized hole for Bayern to fill up top. They wanted the Poland international to stay, insisting that he had one year left on his contract, but he has successfully moved to Barcelona.

Upcoming season crucial for Harry Kane, Tottenham

The 2022/23 season feels like a career-defining one for Kane at Tottenham.

He wanted to leave for City last summer, but Spurs then appeased him by bringing in Conte, who won the Premier League with Chelsea and who is a serial Serie A winner.

Last season showed material progress at Tottenham for the first time in a long time.

Will Harry Kane ever leave Spurs?

Will Harry Kane ever leave Spurs?

Could we ever see Harry Kane leave Tottenham?

That has bought Spurs some time, with Kane happy to see where Conte can now take the team. If Spurs win a trophy or two next season and continue to progress, Kane will surely be inclined to stay.

If the progress stalls, though, Tottenham may be unable to stop him leaving like they could in 2021. Indeed, the difference is that he will have only one year left on his deal next summer as opposed to three years last summer.

Tied in with Kane’s future is how long Conte will stay at Tottenham. He does not tend to stick around and build projects, instead favouring quick fixes with intense coaching and serious investment.
