Harry Kane has ‘no interest’ in move from Tottenham to most likely trophy winners, as Man Utd increase pressure

Harry Kane warms up before Tottenham match
Harry Kane does not want to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich, a report has revealed, but a move to Man Utd might still be on the cards.
Kane is currently debating his future as he approaches the final year of his contract with Tottenham. Knowing he will have turned 30 before next season starts, he has a big decision to make. There are no medals in Kane’s cabinet yet, which obviously does not reflect his ability as a player.
To satisfy his desire for trophies, he might have to think about leaving Tottenham. The uncertainty about who their next manager will be has prompted him to delay talks about a new contract.
In the meantime, the striker has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Serial winners of the Bundesliga, they could virtually guarantee Kane the kind of honours he craves.
There is a space up front in their squad waiting to be taken after they sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer. For various reasons, their addition of Sadio Mane from Liverpool has not been the right fit.
Therefore, Bayern could have serious plans to bid for Kane. There have been doubts, though, about whether the move would actually appeal to him.
And now, an update from Sky Sports has revealed that Kane has “no interest” whatsoever in joining Bayern.
The report does not explain exactly why Kane would turn his nose up at the German giants. However, it is likely that his pursuit of the all-time Premier League goalscoring record might be weighing on his mind.
Man Utd move still on for Harry Kane
In that regard, his strongest suitors elsewhere in England might be Man Utd. Erik ten Hag’s side are searching for an elite frontman to take over from Wout Weghorst when his loan spell from Burnley ends.
Kane is one of the main names under consideration at Old Trafford. However, Man Utd might have a hard time convincing Tottenham to sell to a domestic rival, just as Man City found out for themselves in 2021.
Indeed, Sky‘s report says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to keep Kane “at all costs”. There is a recognition, though, that their negotiating position might be weaker than it was two years ago.
Furthermore, the prospect of Man Utd finishing in the top four at Tottenham’s expense – which currently looks likely – would add “pressure” on Kane’s current employers.
Tottenham could still stand in Kane’s way of an exit if he does not renew his contract, instead letting his deal run down until it expires at the end of next season.
But if they need to rebuild their squad after a turbulent season, they might not be able to ignore the amount of money they could still receive for Kane by selling him this year.
The England captain has scored 25 goals from 42 appearances in all competitions for his club this season. His all-time tally of 273 goals from 428 games makes him Tottenham’s record scorer.
Harry Kane has written his name in the history books at Tottenham, but a risk remains that he will not finish his career there. A change could be coming this summer, but there will be a lot of uncertainty throughout.
