Pundit warns Man Utd, Arsenal that ‘scary’ Tottenham star is real threat to top-four race
Harry Kane looks set to fire Tottenham to victory over Manchester United and Arsenal in the race for the Premier League’s top four, according to one pundit.
Kane has proved himself as a reliable top-flight striker for a number of seasons, following 173 goals in 278 competition appearances. What’s more, he has picked up three Golden Boot awards.
However, Kane has recently adapted to become a more all-round striker.
The England captain’s hold-up play and passing range have earned him plaudits – and also helped forge the Premier League’s most prolific goalscoring partnership with Tottenham strike partner Son Heung-min.
Kane has recovered from his early-season struggles to hit 12 Premier League goals and lay on five assists for Tottenham.
And as the season enters its final stretch, Spurs still have a chance of finishing fourth. They lost to direct rivals Manchester United earlier this month, but have to play Arsenal in a game in hand.
According to Noel Whelan, Kane, Son and January signing Dejan Kulusevski can enhance their “incredible” understanding to push the club to fourth.
“He’s the Tom Brady of English football, isn’t he?” Whelan told Football Insider of Kane.
Paulo Dybala to join Kane and Son at Spurs?
Paulo Dybala looks set to leave Juventus as manager Max Allegri makes a damming statement in his press conference. Could he join Tottenham?
“He’s getting himself into some great areas and it looks like he’s playing with real confidence at the moment.
“All the troubles and speculation we saw at the beginning of the season has completely washed away. The link-up between those three now is incredible – Kulusevski, Kane, and Son.
“When they’re at their best, it’s really quite scary. The amount of goals and opportunities they set up for one another is amazing.
“When you’ve got them firing, Tottenham have every chance of winning every game they go into.”
Harry Kane a changed striker under Conte
Spurs boss Antonio Conte recently claimed that Kane is blossoming because he is “starting to understand” his manager’s way of playing – and fitting perfectly into it.
Indeed, Kane came into the season off the back of a busy summer.
Not only did he feature heavily in England’s run to the Euro 2020 final, but he was also the subject of a transfer saga.
Manchester City chased his signature, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy stood firm and warded the interest off.
Kane struggled under previous manager Nuno Espirito Santo. However, he has got back to his best under Conte and the striker is enjoying working alongside Son and new arrival Kulusevski.
Indeed, the trio particularly stood out as Tottenham beat Manchester City 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.
Tottenham are now looking to prove themselves in key matches against Arsenal and Liverpool, as they chase a top-four place.
