Harry Kane replacement: Tottenham target sensational Brazilian hotshot who’s scored 96 goals in last four seasons

Tottenham have reportedly turned their attention to Brazil as they prepare for the unenviable task of potentially having to replace Harry Kane this summer.

The future of the England skipper currently remains in the balance, with Bayern Munich still pursuing a deal despite Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sell for anything less than £100million.

Indeed, Bayern are convinced they have a deal in place for the 29-year-old, especially as Kane only has a year left on his contract and Spurs risk losing him on a free next summer.

That has led new boss Ange Postecoglou to start the process of at least looking at potential replacements for the club’s all-time record goalscorer.

Currently banned Brentford frontman Ivan Toney has recently been spoken of as a perfect fit for the north London club. However, a fresh report in The Independent claims Tottenham are now looking an exciting Flamengo forward Pedro as another alternative.

The 26-year-old Pedro has a fine scoring record with the Brazilian side, scoring 96 goals in his four seasons with the club after just one campaign in Italy at Fiorentina when he struggled to make his mark.

That was back in 2019/20 though and Pedro is now considered a completely different player, as his stats suggest.

Pedro also won the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo and was in the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup. He has scored once in six caps for his country so far.

While there is no mention of a fee in the report, Pedro will not come cheap after he signed a contract extension until 2027 back in July.

Richarlison struggles might make Tottenham think twice

Tottenham might also be loathed to move for another Brazilian attacker, given Richarlison’s continued struggles in north London.

The former Everton man scored just three goals in 35 appearances in his first season at Spurs and also missed countless chances in their pre-season opener against West Ham in Perth on Tuesday.

Much now depends on what happens with Kane in the coming weeks before the window shuts, with a lucrative new contract offer still on the table from the club.

Tottenham are very much in limbo over the whole situation as the higher Bayern bid the more tempting it will be for Levy to sell, rather than lose the club’s talisman for free – which will almost certainly happen if he does not move this summer.

Cash-strapped Barcelona are also said to have joined the race for the frontman, although Kane has already ruled out a switch to French giants PSG.

Kane is expected to feature for Spurs again in the club’s second pre-season friendly when they take on Leicester on their Asia tour this weekend.
