Tottenham leader is in major club’s sights for 2023, as chiefs have ‘hotly debated’ signing

Harry Kane remains on the radar of Bayern Munich and club officials in Bavaria have ‘hotly debated’ his potential transfer, according to a report.

The striker is in fantastic form with Tottenham, having registered eight goals in just nine Premier League matches so far this season. Unfortunately for Kane, he is now having to contend with Erling Haaland for the Premier League Golden Boot award.

Haaland signed for Manchester City a year after Pep Guardiola’s side failed to capture Kane from Tottenham.

And the former Borussia Dortmund ace has got off to an unbelievable start with City, hitting 20 goals in just 13 games. 15 of those have come in the league, while Haaland has registered three hat-tricks already.

Kane isn’t ruling himself out of the top goalscorer race just yet, though. During a recent interview with Sky Sports, he said: “There is a long way to go. Obviously some top players in the league but I’m feeling good, so it is nice to keep getting on the scoresheet, especially important goals to help the team win.

“A lot of games coming thick and fast, Champions League again in midweek, so we’ve got to recover well and the whole squad has to be ready to play so yeah we’ve got to keep battling out the games.”

Kane is helping Spurs to keep up with the likes of Arsenal and City in the Prem. He will be hoping Antonio Conte can guide them to their first piece of silverware since 2008.

Spurs failing to end their trophy drought this season could put Kane’s future in doubt. Following the City transfer saga, he remained in north London with the promise that the club would win some form of competition.

Harry Kane wanted by Bundesliga titans

The England captain, who is also one of Spurs’ most important leaders, has become a target for Bayern Munich in recent months.

The Bundesliga giants sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona in the summer and are seemingly looking for his replacement up front. Perhaps boss Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t view Sadio Mane as a true centre-forward.

Sport Witness continue to push the Kane to Bayern rumours, while citing German outlet Bild. They claim the potential switch to the Allianz Arena could be ‘enticing’ for Kane. The main reason for this is Bayern would be able to offer him regular challenges at silverware.

The report claims Bayern officials have ‘hotly debated’ Kane’s signing. If they decide to make him a top target, then a raid on Spurs could soon happen.

Bayern chief talks potential striker move

Sport Witness also carry quotes from Bayern President Herbert Hainer. When asked about the club potentially signing a world-class striker, such as Kane, he replied: “It’s not primarily a question of money, it has to be the right player on the market. If the opportunity arises, we will take a closer look at it.”

Kane could just be that ‘right player’. He is more similar to Lewandowski than Mane, so his signing would take Bayern back to their previous way of playing.

Of course, the one hurdle Bayern need to get over is convincing the 29-year-old to leave his native England. As per David Ornstein, he is ‘settled’ here and this means a switch to Germany might be a hard sell.

At the end of the day, it will come down to how much Kane wants to win major honours. If Spurs cannot offer this going forward, then he might have to swap countries.

Meanwhile, Spurs face serious competition for an AC Milan star and a report claims PSG are preparing to bid way over £100m for him.
