Joao Felix transfer latest: Atletico Madrid star makes admission on future as Tottenham, Arsenal linked

Joao Felix has claimed he is not considering a move away from Atletico Madrid despite rumours linking him with a Premier League move.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Felix this summer. Having joined Atletico Madrid for £115m in 2019, the Portuguese youngster has so far failed to live up to his hefty price tag.

As a result, reports suggested the 22-year-old would be allowed to leave the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

However, in an interview with Marca Felix revealed that he will be remaining at Atletico Madrid for next season.

Speaking about his future, Felix claimed that he is not even considering a move away from the club.

He said: “A departure from Atletico is not on the table.

“I’m fine and focused on Atletico. I’m calm about the future, aware of what I can do and I’m fine with myself.

While showing great potential and obvious skill, Felix has yet to make the impact his price tag warranted.

The interview is potentially a massive blow to the transfer plans of Arsenal and Spurs.

It had been suggested that both clubs were alerted earlier this week that Felix could be put up for sale.

Now, it seems the attacking starlet is still dedicated to proving his worth at Colchoneros.

Last season, the forward netted eight goals and contributed four assists from 24 La Liga appearances.

This was his best performing season since arriving three seasons ago. However, it is still far off the stats expected from him when he arrived.

With time still on his side, Felix has plenty of opportunities to showcase his undeniable talent at the club.

And from this interview, it suggests that Felix is desperate to show fans exactly what he is capable of.

For both North London clubs, they will now have to look elsewhere to bolster their attacking options.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Richarlison, whereas Arsenal look to have sealed a deal for Gabriel Jesus.

But, at least for the time being, it seems the Premier League will not be graced with the talent of Felix.
