Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes, though Inter Milan will fight Tottenham for his services.
Conte has made just one permanent signing while at Tottenham, that of Rodrigo Bentancur. He also brought in Bentancur’s former Juventus teammate Dejan Kulusevski, on loan.
It is widely believed that Tottenham will activate their option to buy the Swede at the end of his loan. Indeed, Conte’s side is beginning to take shape, as those two stars have been important additions.
Of course, Conte will be keen on strengthening his squad even more in the summer.
The Italian manager reportedly has his eye on PSG midfielder Paredes. That is according to Calciomercato who report that Conte ‘would gladly welcome’ the midfielder.
Paredes has been a bit-part player for the Ligue 1 giants during his time there. He has made just over 100 appearances in a little over three years at the club.
The Argentinian has struggled with various injuries during his career. He has made just 15 starts in all competitions this season, as he has been out for a decent period.
Still, Conte appears to have his sights set on the midfielder.
Paredes’ contract runs out next summer, so a move might be on the cards in the upcoming window.
Indeed, that gives PSG the chance to guarantee a fee for the star, before he can move on for free.
Inter will rival Spurs for Paredes
While Tottenham appear keen, they are not the only side with interest in Paredes. Inter Milan are also reported to be keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.
The report states that PSG are after €25million (£21million) for the services of Paredes.
However, as Inter’s CEO reportedly has a good relationship with PSG’s, they could be in line for a discount on that price. The report states that it could be knocked down to €20million (£16.5million).
As such, Tottenham’s pursuit of Paredes could be a tough one. However, neither one of Spurs or Inter have made a formal approach to PSG regarding Paredes as yet.
