Tottenham have reportedly asked about signing a second Barcelona star during their negotiations to bring Frenchman Clement Lenglet to north London.
Centre-back Lenglet is set to join Spurs on a season-long loan but he is not the only Nou Camp player on Antonio Conte’s radar, with winger Memphis Depay being tipped to make it a double deal.
The Netherlands forward has been linked with an exit from the LaLiga giants in recent months. That’s despite the fact he only joined them last summer from Lyon.
The 28-year-old did make 38 appearances in all competitions for Barca last season. However, he was not always first choice after Ronald Koeman was replaced by Xavi as boss.
The fact that Depay’s contract runs in less than a year’s time has prompted Barca into a sale.
And, according to Spanish outlet Sport, Tottenham have asked about taking the former Manchester United attacker.
The report adds that Barcelona will accept on offer of £17.2million (€20m) for the player, who still wants to play in the Champions League next term.
Depay is not expected to feature much for the Catalan side if they complete proposed moves for Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.
To that end, Barca are willing to except a low-ball offer, which could be enough to tempt Daniel Levy.
Tottenham have been incredibly proactive in the summer window so far. They have already snapped up Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison, with deals also close for Lenglet and Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence.
Spurs are not the only club keen on Depay though, with Sevilla considering a swap for defender Jules Kounde. Arsenal are also known to have shown significant interest.
However, it’s thought that cash-strapped Barca prefer a straight money offer. That makes Tottenham firm favourites, if they step up their interest in Depay.
Depay in, Bergwijn out at Tottenham
The pacy attacker could be a straight swap for fellow Holland international Steven Bergwijn in north London. The winger is being chased by Ajax and is expected to head home this summer.
As for Depay, he struggled in his last stint in the Premier League.
The forward scored just seven goals in 53 appearances for United after joining them in 2015.

He was eventually sold by Jose Mourinho in 2017 but has significantly improved his game since then.
If Tottenham so sign Depay it will give them an embarrassment of riches in their forward line for the new season.
Conte could line up with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski as his normal front three. However, he would then be able to call on Depay, Richarlison and Lucas Moura as direct replacements.
