Richarlison has decided that he wants to join Tottenham Hotspur from Everton and has made it known to those around him, according to a report.
The Brazilian forward is one of several players who could leave Everton this summer after their narrow escape from relegation. He wants to experience playing on a bigger stage and has attracted a few clubs who could fit the bill.
For example, Chelsea have identified him as a potential target as their attack evolves. However, it is Tottenham who have been tipped to make the first move for the former Watford ace.
Richarlison could compete with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski for a place in Antonio Conte’s attack.
He wants Champions League football, which Tottenham can provide. However, his thoughts on Spurs as a next destination have not yet been clear.
But now, Football Insider are reporting that Richarlison wants to join Tottenham, who have held talks with Everton this week. The Toffees hope to gain around £50m by selling the 25-year-old, who is under contract at Goodison Park until 2024.
Richarlison has made it clear to close friends that he would be keen to sign for Spurs. Hence, there could be further talks in the pipeline.
Tottenham and Everton are also in contact over the possibility of midfielder Harry Winks moving in the opposite direction. Hence, the communication lines should remain open.
Richarlison attracted to Tottenham despite competition
Richarlison has scored 53 goals in 152 appearances across his Everton career. At a rate of about one goal every three games, he could be ready to test himself elsewhere.
Whether he is worth £50m is another matter and Tottenham must decide how much they need him. Kane, Son and Kulusevski all did well in the 2021-22 season, helping the club qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea join £50m Richarlison race
Everton must sell Richarlison to balance the books and Chelsea are ready to pounce on £50m deal
Richarlison could add his own qualities into the mix. However, he would not necessarily be a guaranteed starter.
That does not seem to have put him off a move to north London, though. Hence, he could be wearing Tottenham colours when the new season starts.
