Tottenham have reportedly blocked Bryan Gil’s proposed move to Valencia despite the player having an agreement in place with the LaLiga side.

The winger only arrived in north London in the summer of 2021 but spent the second half of last season on loan at Los Che, where he made a significant impression.

Valencia were thought to have agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old, with a return on the cards.

However, Hector Gomez on Twitter, claims that Tottenham have pulled the plug on the transfer.

The forward now looks to set to remain in north London and compete for a place in Antonio Conte’s first team.

The report does add, however, that Valencia could be back in for Gil either in January or next summer.

The young attacker has more of a chance of making an impact at Spurs this season, given the new five subs rule.

He has been on the bench for both Premier League fixtures so far without getting on the pitch.

Glut of games gives Gil more chances

But with a return to the Champions League on the horizon as well as domestic cup competitions to come, Gil is sure to be given his chance.

The former Sevilla star does appear to have added some strength over the summer, having been criticised for being too lightweight last term.

And he’ll he hoping for a chance to show his worth as he tries to force his way into the Spain squad for the World Cup later this year.

Tottenham are back in action on Saturday lunchtime when they host Wolves in the Premier League.
