Tottenham braced for ‘improved’ Harry Kane offer as Levy signs off second well-known academy product’s sale

Harry Kane warms up before Tottenham game
Bayern Munich have decided the value of their next offer to Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane, according to a reporter.
A move to Bayern has suddenly become a feasible option for Kane as he considers his Tottenham future. Previously, there were doubts he would want to leave the Premier League behind while in with a chance of catching Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record in the competition.
But Bayern have been persistent with their interest in Kane, who would be almost guaranteed to satisfy his desire of winning trophies by joining the Bundesliga champions.
On Tuesday, Bayern submitted their first formal offer for Kane, worth around £60m. It didn’t take too long for Tottenham to reject it.
However, the German giants have been plotting their next approach. Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed via his Twitter account that “Bayern are to test Daniel Levy’s resolve with an improved offer of around £80m all in” for Kane.
Spurs still intend to “reject any bids”, Jacobs continues. But Bayern are ready to put further pressure on them.
Thomas Tuchel’s side still need to sign an orthodox replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whom they sold to Barcelona last summer.
Furthermore, there is the risk of Kane pushing for the move too. Reports in Germany have even claimed he has an agreement in principle with Bayern already.
As things stand, it doesn’t look like Kane will be extending his contract with Tottenham, so this might be their last chance to sell him. As someone who will be 30 years old by the start of next season, £80m might be a good fee.
But equally, Kane would be hard for Tottenham to replace. After missing out on European qualification for next season, they might be hoping for one more season out of him to help get them back where they feel they belong.
As a graduate of their own academy who has gone on to become their all-time record goalscorer, Kane is certainly a success story for Spurs and someone they want at the front and centre of their project.
Tottenham agree another Harry’s exit
In contrast, another product of the Tottenham academy who has failed to progress as hoped for at first-team level is now due to leave the club.
According to various sources, including Sky Sports, an agreement is now in place for Tottenham to sell a different Harry – Winks – to Leicester City.
Winks was on loan at Sampdoria in the 2022-23 season after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham. Now, Spurs are ready to sell the midfielder.
Leicester’s interest in Winks after their relegation to the Championship emerged recently. Meanwhile, Tottenham have agreed to sign James Maddison from the Foxes for £40m.
The Winks deal has been treated separately, but a fee in that case has also been settled upon. Tottenham will earn £10m from Leicester for the 27-year-old.
In turn, Winks will get to play in the Championship for the first time in his career after spending his whole career with Tottenham before his spell in Serie A.
