Tottenham braced for ‘persuasive’ Harry Kane bid from Euro giant, but striker’s dream tees up Man Utd move

Bayern Munich are readying a ‘persuasive’ and ‘attractive’ offer to sign Tottenham talisman Harry Kane, though his own personal desires are giving encouragement to Man Utd, per reports.
The future of Harry Kane is shaping up to be one of the most must-see transfer sagas of the summer. The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and as yet, has not signalled his intention to pen fresh terms.
As such, all manner of possibilities are in play, ranging from a new Spurs deal to a summer sale. Sky Sports even reported Tottenham chairman Daniel levy might retain Kane for the final 12 months of his contract before allowing him to leave for free.
In the event Kane does leave his boyhood club at season’s end, two specific destination are in play – Manchester and Munich.
Man Utd and Bayern Munich are the two likeliest suitors, with both sides seeking an elite-level addition at centre-forward this summer.
United only replaced Cristiano Ronaldo with the stopgap arrival of loanee Wout Weghorst in January. Bayern, meanwhile, have been making do with 34-year-old Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting since Robert Lewandowski joined Barcelona last summer.
Now, a fresh update from the Independent has revealed Bayern are highly likely to act on their interest once the summer window opens. In fact, it’s claimed they’ll lodge a ‘persuasive’ and ‘attractive’ offer.
Emboldening Bayern is the claim Tottenham are dead set against selling to a domestic rival in England. Little would pain Spurs more than seeing Kane score against them on the regular for a side they’re in direct competition with.
Furthermore, the Independent add Kane’s contract status is another reason they feel obliged to try their luck. With only 12 months left on his deal come the summer, Kane might be available for less than his true worth were Spurs in a stronger bargaining position.
Valuations of £100m have been cited, though there’s a suggestion Spurs could sell for less to an overseas side.
Additionally, it’s noted joining Bayern comes with a virtual guarantee of lifting major honours, something Kane is desperate to do.
Bayern have been crowned Bundesliga champions 10 years in a row, with five German cups and two Champions Leagues also pocketed in that time.
However, while many factors are in Bayern’s favour, the report points out a few others which aren’t.
Man Utd hold advantages too
Firstly, the Red Devils can offer Tottenham a more lucrative financial package. It stands to reason that if Tottenham want to recoup as much money as they can, selling to Man Utd is their best bet.
Furthermore, Kane’s own personal goal of wishing to become the Premier League’s all-time top scorer is another tick in United’s column.
Kane’s 206 strikes places him third in the list behind just Wayne Rooney (208) and Alan Shearer (260). The Independent add becoming the new record-holder is a ‘huge personal goal’ for Kane, though that factor also enhances the chances he’ll stay at Tottenham too.
Finally, the report adds if push comes to shove and competing offers are accepted, Kane would prefer to remain in England.
That notion is echoed by a different report from the Mirror. That outlet label Man Utd – not Bayern Munich – as ‘favourites’ in the transfer race.
