Tottenham tipped to make dramatic deadline day bid for Chelsea starter Pochettino will sell

Tottenham linked Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher
Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a dramatic deadline day move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to reports.
Mauricio Pochettino is considering selling the England international after bringing in Moises Caicedo (£115m) and Romeo Lavia (£58m) this summer.
This is despite Gallagher being a consistent starter for Chelsea last season. He made 45 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring three goals and making one assist in the process.
West Ham made a £40m bid for the 23-year-old earlier in the window, which was rejected. Chelsea have signed Caicedo and Lavia since then, though, so their position may have changed.
Gallagher could provide competition for the likes of Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr at Tottenham this season.
It’s also worth noting that Hojbjerg could still leave Spurs before the deadline, so Gallagher could be his replacement.
Whether or not Tottenham can agree a fee with Chelsea remains to be seen, but everything points towards them making a late move for Gallagher.

Tottenham plot late move for Gallagher
According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, Tottenham are ‘exploring’ the possibility of making a deadline day offer for Gallagher.
On Twitter, Sheth wrote: Tottenham are interested in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
“While [Tottenham’s] focus is on outgoings, they are exploring whether to make a move for Gallagher on Deadline Day.
“Chelsea rejected a bid in the region of £40m from West Ham earlier in the window.”
As mentioned by Sheth, Tottenham would most likely have to offload players before sanctioning any major incomings. Lucky for them, several of their players are heavily linked with departures.
Sergio Reguilon appears to be set to join Manchester United on a season-long loan. Japhet Tanganga is also set to sign for Augsburg on a temporary deal, while Davinson Sanchez has four clubs chasing his signature for a permanent transfer. Eric Dier is another potential outgoing, too.
With that in mind, if Tottenham can generate some cash from player sales then a late bid for Gallagher may become a reality. Whether or not they can agree on a fee with Chelsea, however, remains to be seen.
