Tottenham shock Liverpool by muscling in on Jobe Bellingham pursuit with ‘package’ aiming to rival Reds

Tottenham are reportedly working on a deal for Jobe Bellingham, the brother of Jude Bellingham, and they’re looking to beat Liverpool to the snare.
Bellingham’s older brother has been the subject of major interest for much of this season. That’s thanks to a series of fantastic performances in both club and international football.
At just 19 years of age, the older Bellingham brother has already captained Borussia Dortmund and scored a World Cup goal.
His development at such a young age has been mesmerising. A number of the world’s biggest clubs have him on their radar, as he could be one of the best players in the world for years to come.
He’s not the only talent of the family, though. His younger brother, Jobe, who is just 17 years of age, has been plying his trade at Birmingham City for the past couple of seasons.
After making his foray into senior football with two Championship appearances last term, he’s played more regularly this season, appearing 14 times and starting twice.
Despite not being a regular at Birmingham, Premier League sides seem to have identified his potential. If his progression is anything like his brother’s, there’ll be a lot of sides wanting to snap him up.
Newcastle United are one of the clubs that have been linked with the signing. As have Liverpool, who are one of the main names attempting to snare his brother.
Indeed, the Reds’ pursuit could be an attempt to make Jude more comfortable with the idea of joining. That’s not to say they don’t want Jobe, but it seems convenient for them to be looking at him when they are clearly desperate to sign his brother.
Tottenham keen on snaring Jobe Bellingham
There’s another big Premier League club now interested in the younger Bellingham. Indeed, Football Insider reports that Tottenham are keen on signing the Birmingham youngster.
That report suggests they have a ‘strong interest’ in the signing. What’s more, they are apparently putting together a package to lure him there before the summer window.
It seems they’re keen to get out in front, with the genuine prospect that a lot of eyes could soon be on him.
Indeed, it’s reported that they ‘believe he has improved in recent months’ and are putting in the groundwork to sign him ‘before the race hots up’.
Tottenham could have upper hand
The decision between Tottenham and Liverpool, if it was presented to Bellingham, would not be an easy one. Despite Spurs being better placed in the Premier League at the moment, both are top clubs.
Liverpool are enduring a poor period at the moment, but it would be no surprise if they soon bounced back.
However, Tottenham could still be ahead of them. Bellingham will not just want to be known as the younger brother of one of the world’s best players.
He is a legitimate talent in his own right, and he’ll want to show that. As such, if he were to go to Liverpool, who may potentially sign his brother, he could be in his shadow.
A move to Tottenham offers him the chance of being his own person, and succeeding on his own.
