Tottenham star faces huge decision on potential £86m transfer, with Euro giant ‘still working’ on deal

Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Tottenham, October 2022

Tottenham star Harry Kane will reportedly “take a decision” about his future after the World Cup, amid claims Bayern Munich are “still working” on a transfer.

It has not been uncommon in recent transfer windows for Kane to be the subject of interest. Two summers ago, a move to Manchester City looked all but certain.

Indeed, it seemed as if the striker had prepared to make the lucrative move to the Etihad. However, Tottenham did not come to an agreement with City, and he remained in north London.

Since that time, he has remained in mesmerising form in front of goal. Indeed, last season he bagged 17 Premier League goals and provided nine assists.

The Englishman was one of the most influential players across the whole of England. Clearly, that was noted by sides outside of the Premier League, as Bayern Munich came sniffing for the striker.

The Bundesliga giants were open in their admiration for Kane after star striker Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona.

Kane has remained as one of the most in-form players in the Premier League this season. He has scored 12 goals – the second most in the league – and provided one assist in 15 games.

As such, it is no surprise that reports linking him to a move to Bayern have continued.

Bayern still keen to snare Kane

Given Kane is one of the world’s best strikers, it makes sense as to why Bayern would want to snatch him from Tottenham.

Transfer insider Florian Plettenberg has revealed the German side are still attempting to make that happen, though they are slightly wary of what they would have to pay.

“Bayern still working on it in the background! But the bosses are skeptical whether this massive deal can be realised. Price tag could be around €80-100m!” he said on Twitter.

Those fees equate to around £69-86.5million. However, the lower end of the scale represents the fee they spent on their record arrival, Lucas Hernandez, two and a half years ago.

If they were willing to spend that on a young defender, spending it on one of the world’s best strikers does not seem out of the question.

Kane preparing big decision

Plettenberg also revealed that while there is to be no movement at the moment, Kane is preparing a big decision soon.

“At this stage no development. Kane will take a decision about his future after the World Cup,” he added.

The decision to potentially leave Tottenham would be a big one for Kane. There are pros and cons to staying put and leaving for Bayern.

Heading to the Bundesliga side would offer him a much better shot at silverware. Not just the Bundesliga, which is almost a sure thing, but the Champions League would be in much closer reach at Bayern.

However, the opportunity to make history is there if Kane remains in the Premier League. He is 65 goals shy of Alan Shearer’s record for Premier League goals.

Over the next few seasons, the Tottenham striker could well break that record. As such, the decision will not be an easy one for him to make.
