Report: Tottenham submit joint £50m bid for in-demand Leicester pair

Tottenham have reportedly submitted a joint £50million joint bid for Leicester City duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes following the club’s relegation last season.
New Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou reportedly wants the England pair, reports the Daily Mail, ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer rebuild in north London after a woeful 2022/23 campaign.
But with Leicester wanting around £60m for Maddison on his own, a joint offer well below that mark is almost certain to be met with a negative response.
Maddison and Barnes contributed 23 goals and 10 assists between them in a disastrous season for the relegated Foxes.
However, Tottenham are not the only club showing an interest in their services, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham are also keen.
Maddison has just a year left on his contract, which could force the Foxes to sell him this summer in order to receive a significant transfer fee.
The 26-year-old has been at the King Power Stadium since 2016 following his move from Norwich City.
The England playmaker has made 203 appearances for the club, scoring 55 goals in that time.
Barnes could replace Kulusevski at Tottenham
As for Barnes, the 25-year-old’s current contract runs until the summer of 2025, and he could be a replacement for Dejan Kulusevski if Tottenham cannot agree a permanent deal with Juventus for the Swede.
He graduated from the club’s youth academy before making his Leicester debut in the 2016/17 season.
He has played 187 games for the club and has 45 goals to his name.
Adding Maddison and Barnes to the current Tottenham squad would give Postecoglou some much-needed creativity in a midfield that lacked any after Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a season-ending injury.
