Tottenham told £26million would secure them major midfield target who will be available in January

Tottenham have learned that midfield target Weston McKennie will be available for £26million and Juventus are open to losing him in January.
Tottenham have been linked with McKennie since last summer. Indeed, the Juventus midfielder has been one of the most talked about potential signings for Spurs since that time.
That Antonio Conte is in charge of the north London outfit is likely one of the driving forces in that.
The Italian manager was previously in charge at Juventus. As such, it’s no surprise that the style of player who plays for the club would also fit his system.
Conte has already brought in a fair few Serie A players since his time at Tottenham. Dejan Kulusevski has been the best performer, though Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic and Cristian Romero all more than pull their weight.
McKennie looks as if he could well be the next cab off that rank. Indeed, the midfielder has been a consistent performer during his time with Juventus.
In his first season following his move from Schalke, the American played 34 Serie A games, scoring five times and assisting twice.
His game time suffered last season due to injuries. However, this season, McKennie seems to be back to the player that he showed he could be in his first season.
Indeed, other than a few games which he sat out through injury, he has only missed one fixture in all competitions. The midfielder has scored three goals and provided one assist in those games.
Juventus willing to let McKennie go in January
As such, it would appear that he is a central part of the Juventus side. However, a fresh report from the Calciomercato states that is not the case.
That report states €30million (approx £26million) or ‘even something less’ would see them let him go.
It also states McKennie can leave, possibly as ‘early as January’.
Given how often he has played this season, it is surprising that Juve would want to see the back of him. However, their ongoing Financial Fair Play investigation could be a driving force in them seeing some talents leave.
Simple chance at McKennie transfer
As such, Tottenham could be the beneficiaries. Indeed, the equation is simple, Juventus might well have to accept an offer in the region of £26million.
What’s more, Spurs have been the most heavily linked side for some time now. Though they will apparently face competition from Borussia Dortmund, they will fancy their chances.
It would be a surprise if the north London side did not attempt to snare McKennie in the current situation.
Conte might soon be able to add to the list of players he has signed from the Serie A.
He will hope, if that is the case, McKennie thrives under his management. It would be little surprise if the manager was able to get him firing after a switch to the Premier League.
